Tell us a bit about where you come from, where you were educated  … Although I was born in the England I feel that South Africa is my home as I’ve been here since the 1980s. In year 2000 I returned to England to study Complementary Therapies, such as Reflexology, Holistic Massage, Aromatherapy and a few more modalities. In 2004 I began my journey as a qualified Complementary Therapist at St Francis Health Centre located in Bathurst, Eastern Cape. In 2005 I moved to Port Elizabeth where I started my own business called Holistic Treatments.
Why did you choose this business? In 2008 I noticed that candles made from soy wax were becoming more and more popular due to the fact that they are 100% natural. It was then that my interest in aromatherapy overlapped into creating essential oil recipes to blend with wax to create the candles.
Any special skills/talents in this area? In the begining, making candles was pretty much a learn-as-you-go affair … as they say … “practice makes perfect”
What’s the best part of your working day? Making candles is extremely therapeutic and giving treatments to clients brings me into a state of oneness.
And the worst? The worst part of a candle-making day is when Eskom decides to load shed without warning
Of all the brands out there, which one is your favourite? Why? Environ is my favourite Professional Skin Care brand. Their products are of the highest quality.
Who or what has been your most important inspiration in life? Why? Musicians are my biggest inspiration as music is the universal language that crosses borders and unites people across the world.

Any awards, achievements, successes you’d care to brag about? The most recent modality that I have been studying is Transformational Breath® I certified as a Transformational Breath Facilitator® in 2018. You probably know that humans can survive without food for 1 to 2 months, go without water for 1 to 3 days but can only survive 2 to 3 minutes without oxygen. This demonstrates how important out breath actually is. Your breath is your biggest friend.
